AirBurst Equipment

The equipment package can and does vary from location to location depending on the contractors/customers needs.

Shown here we have a desert fly crew, all the necessary equipment for the airburst process is 4x4 truck mounted. This is necessary as a trailer mounted package soon gets stuck in the soft summer sand.

  • A winch to raise and lower the tool in the borehole;
  • Air regulation and controls;
  • Electrical timing control for the AirBurst tool;
  • Umbilical for the airburst tool.

The crew and equipment shown here worked on over two linear kilometers of borehole with minimal downtime. boreholes ranged from 300mm to 1m in diameter and up to 82m deep.

As an option a compressor can be supplied to remove reliance on compressed air bottles, additionally there are different winch and cable length options available.

Here in Europe we would normally mobilise in either an enclosed van such as a transit or for additional flexibility a trailer mounted solution is used.

The main equipment is exactly the same as the desert configuration, however a compressor is mounted on the trailer to allow for extended operations on very deep boreholes. The umbilical and tool also has a greated depth capability of 300m.

The tools can be configured for both vertical and horizontal collector style boreholes either with a single element or multiple radial elements.

These types of operations require specialised logistics and treatment.
Typically a radial collector may have six elements of between 16-50m in lenght. AirBurst has been used with great success in this type of borehole.

On those occasions when remote access is difficult we have inhouse go anywhere truck capability.
